Chestnut Class – April

We are encouraging families to not put themselves under pressure at this time and to complete what is right for their child and their family circumstance.

Miss Swain will not be asking for any work to be handed in for marking but if your child wants to make contact with her or show her work they have completed then please upload onto Tapestry and Miss Swain will respond.

No lessons will be set for the Easter period but please find some Easter activities to help keep your child busy during this time below:


Help with Phonics & Reading

  • Mr Thorne Does Phonics is a YouTube channel with lots of very accessible free videos for parents to share at home.
  • Teach Your Monster to Read  ( is an award-winning series of games that’s helped millions of children learn to read. Play for free on their website or download the app for free!  Covers everything from letters and sounds to reading full sentences.  It’s highly interactive and engaging.
  • Fun Fonix ( is a phonics warehouse of resources and materials that are designed to move quickly through phonics rules. These are ideal for teachers or parents for learning and practice.
  • Monster Phonics ( have made their online teaching resources free to all schools and parents.  Videos, power points and plans are available that link to their books or could stand alone.
