The new guidance released by the DfE on 29th November, puts emphasis on children remaining in school…

“COVID-19 continues to be a virus that we learn to live with and the imperative to reduce the disruption to children and young people’s education remains.
Our priority is for you to deliver face-to-face, high-quality education to all pupils. The evidence is clear that being out of education causes significant harm to educational attainment, life chances, mental and physical health.”

At this time, we are asking our families to do regular LFT tests with their children, especially if they have been in close contact with a positive case. If an LFT shows to be positive, please do not send your child to school until they have a negative PCR test.

Our risk assessment has been updated following the release of this guidance and informs parents and carers that, due to national difficulties in finding cover teachers, we will do our best to keep children in school rather than home educate. This may mean that children will be grouped differently, with all measures taken to keep everyone safe. Measures that include: good ventilation, wearing of masks and increased cleaning.

Please note: during any time of increased Covid cases in school and the local community, we ask that all adults entering the school site  wear masks.

We ask that only one parent / carer enters the site to drop off and collect their child from school.

Remote Teaching and Learning

Our Year R children and parents will continue to login to Tapestry. Work is put on daily to keep work manageable for both children and parents, giving a clear focus for the day. You will find videos to support phonics learning and maths learning as well as a range of other activities.  Daily Zoom calls are arranged by the class teacher. 

For Years 1 – 6 inclusive, our VLE is Google Classroom. All children have their own login and can access from home devices. 

Our class teachers do a daily meeting with their class to explain the work for that day and answer any questions. The children can access the work set through the classroom and submit the work once complete.

The children will be signposted to a range of different types of teaching from live learning and pre-recorded video’s to links to websites such as: BBC Bitesize and The Oak Academy.

Xbox and Playstation consoles can be used to access online remote services if your child doesn’t have access to a laptop or PC.   More information on how to do this by using these links:

Critical Care

We have been open for Critical Care throughout every lockdown to ensure our children of Key Worker parents are cared for during working hours in the week. 9am – 3pm.

Breakfast Club is running from 8-9am. After School Club is running from 3-4pm. You will need to book your child into these sessions via your Scopay account.

If you are a Key Worker and need to use Critical Care, please complete this form and send into the school office with either your ID badge or letter from employer. Once received by the school office, your request will be considered and you will be informed what can be offered.

We are providing hot meals on site, please see the letter below that has the meal options on it for the week.

Critical Care is split into KS1 & KS2. 

Supported by one of our class teachers and TA, the children will have a session on maths and English as well as other activities that may include Joe Wickes PE, creative arts and crafts, outdoor activities. There is also a hot chocolate break in the afternoon. Google Classroom may only be accessed by the KS2 Bubble, depending on numbers and availability of laptops. 

We ask that your child comes to school wrapped up warmly as doors and windows will be open for ventilation purposes.

You don’t need to be a Free School Meals family to request support from a Community Hamper if you are really struggling to put food on the table. Please let us know via the school office. No explanation is required.
